Support Your Educators and Cosultants with RIRO Resilience Training

Reaching IN… Reaching OUT (RIRO) is a nationally recognized, evidence-based resilience skills training program developed in Canada for adults who work with young children. It was created by a team of psychologists, researchers, and early childhood professionals to help adults build the emotional and cognitive skills needed to manage stress, model resilience, and support the development of resilience in children.

Alberta’s Dayhome Support Network offers closed group RIRO training for agencies with 8 or more educators.

To request a private group training for your agency, please fill out our interest form below.

Public Intakes Also Available

If you aren’t able to gather a group of 8 ECE’s, we also offer regular public intakes for educators and occasional intakes for consultants. These are open intakes where providers from all over Alberta can join.

RIRO isn’t just professional development — it’s a long-term investment in the strength and stability of your educators.

RIRO Helps Your Educators:

  • Build emotional resilience and reduce burnout
  • Strengthen relationships with children and parents
  • Improve behaviour guidance strategies
  • Foster a reflective, professional mindset
  • Feel more connected and capable in their roles

Why choose RIRO facilitated by ADSN?
While RIRO is designed for all early childhood professionals, ADSN delivers the training through the lens of dayhome work. That means every example, discussion, and reflection is grounded in real dayhome situations — from managing mixed-age groups and long solo days to navigating parent relationships and emotional exhaustion.

Program Delivery:
RIRO is delivered live over Zoom in a small-group format that’s flexible, interactive, and designed with dayhome life in mind. Evening sessions make it easy for educators to attend after hours without added stress.

Length: 6 Sessions
Schedule: 2.5 hours per session, in the evening
Location: Online via Zoom
Group Size: Minimum 8 to a maximum 20 educators or consultants per cohort

Expectations:
This is a live, interactive program that relies heavily on group engagement. To get the most out of RIRO, participants are expected to:

  • Attend all 6 sessions in full
  • Come prepared to reflect, share, and learn
  • Keep cameras on whenever possible to support group connection
  • Respect the confidentiality and experiences of others in the cohort
  • Complete light between-session reflections (no formal homework)

Choosing Participants:
When selecting your RIRO Cohort, we highly encourage you to select participants who are genuinely interested in the experience and open to learning in a group setting. RIRO is most impactful when participants are engaged, willing to reflect, and contribute to a supportive and respectful learning environment.

It is recommended that participants:

  • Are comfortable using Zoom and all its features
  • Can navigate group learning and follow reflective dialogue delivered in English
  • Have access to a reliable internet connection, a quiet space, and a device with a microphone and webcam

*PD Funding:
RIRO by ADSN is fully approved for PD Funding and 12-15 Hours of Release Time for eligible Level 3 educators only. To be eligible for PD Funding, each educator must attend ALL 6 sessions. It is not always possible for ADSN to make up missed sessions for educators. Please ensure all participating educators can commit to attending the entire series. Educators will receive a certificate for both Child Skills and Adult Skills.

Cost:
The cost for this program is $200/participant.
Closed group training will be billed directly to the agency at the time of booking.
