Support Your Practice with Sharing Sensitive News™ Training
Sharing Sensitive News is a research-based professional learning program developed by The Hanen Centre to support early childhood educators in navigating difficult conversations with families.
Grounded in the Learning Language and Loving It™ framework, this program was designed by speech-language pathologists, researchers, and early childhood professionals to help educators approach sensitive discussions with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
Conversations about developmental concerns, communication delays, behaviour challenges, or referrals can feel overwhelming. When handled thoughtfully, however, these discussions can strengthen partnerships with families and ensure children receive the support they need.
Sharing Sensitive News provides a structured, practical approach to preparing for and leading these conversations in a way that is supportive, respectful, and collaborative.
This program is not just professional development — it is a long-term investment in professional confidence, family relationships, and quality practice.
Sharing Sensitive News Helps You:
- Prepare for conversations about developmental concerns
- Organize thoughts clearly and professionally
- Communicate observations in a supportive, non-alarming way
- Strengthen trust and collaboration with families
Why Choose Sharing Sensitive News Facilitated by ADSN?
Sharing Sensitive News is a powerful program on its own. Delivered through ADSN, it is grounded in the real-world realities of dayhome work.
Tailored for Dayhomes
While the program is designed for early childhood settings broadly, ADSN delivers it through a dayhome lens. Discussions reflect mixed-age care, close parent relationships, and the unique dynamics of home-based programs where personal and professional boundaries often intersect.
Facilitated by a Dayhome Professional
Danielle Bourdin is a Hanen-certified facilitator and Executive Director of ADSN. With lived experience as a dayhome educator and years of supporting providers across Alberta, Danielle delivers this program in a way that is practical, relevant, and deeply connected to the realities of dayhome practice.
