Dayhome Professionals Week - May 11 - 15, 2026
Last year, ADSN formally declared the week following Mother’s Day as Dayhome Professionals Week in Alberta — a dedicated time to recognize the unique and essential role dayhome providers play in our child care system. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the depth, professionalism, and impact of this work, and to ensure dayhome providers are seen, valued, and respected across the province.
Why this week matters
Dayhome professionals play a vital role in Alberta’s child care system, yet their work often happens quietly and out of view. Operating from their homes, they care for small, mixed-age groups of children while balancing the responsibilities of educator, caregiver, and business owner—all without the support of a larger team.
This work is highly skilled, deeply relational, and essential to families across the province, but it is not always well understood or fully recognized.
Dayhome Professionals Week exists to change that—bringing visibility to the dayhome model, celebrating the people behind it, and ensuring this work is seen, valued, and respected.
