ABOUT THIS SESSION

Were you disappointed that our In-Person Beyond the Bin Workshop is happening in Edmonton? No worries!

We are offering the professional development portion of this workshop VIRTUALLY for those who cannot attend in person.

Facilitated by Kayla Snidal of Capable Learners, this session explores how sensory bins can be used as a purposeful learning tool rather than a stand-alone activity. Participants will examine why sensory play matters, how it supports development across age groups, and how to plan and facilitate sensory experiences intentionally within a dayhome setting.

This session is ideal for providers who want practical, developmentally informed strategies they can apply immediately, whether they are new to sensory play or looking to deepen their practice.

What We’ll Cover

  • The purpose and benefits of sensory play in early learning

  • How sensory bins support self-regulation, engagement, and development

  • Planning sensory experiences for mixed-age dayhome groups

  • Selecting and adapting materials to meet diverse needs

  • Strategies for intentional facilitation and extending learning through sensory play

Please Note

A separate in-person “Make & Take” workshop is occurring in Edmonton on March 14 for participants who want to attend in person. Tickets can be purchased here: https://adsn.ca/product/beyond-the-bin-make-take-workshop/

Resolving Conflict

Explore practical ways to help children work through disagreements, find solutions, and rebuild connections after conflict.

Importance of Early Intervention

This session provides a clear, practical introduction to why early intervention matters in the early childhood years. We’ll explore how timely support can positively influence a child’s long-term development, strengthen outcomes, and reduce challenges later in life. Educators will leave with a solid understanding of why early intervention is so impactful and how this knowledge can enhance the care they provide.

Big Life Transitions

When children go through big transitions, providers often see the ripple effects in their dayhome. Learn practical tools to guide kids through change so you can restore calm, connection, and consistency for everyone.
