New Child Care Funding Announcement: How You Can Share Your Feedback with the Government
The Alberta government has recently announced changes to child care funding, impacting dayhome providers, parents, and agencies. While funding decisions can shape the future of child care in our province, it’s essential that the voices of those directly affected—educators, parents, and agencies—are heard.
At ADSN, we believe that providers should have a say in the policies that impact their businesses, families should be informed about the support available to them, and agencies should have a voice in shaping sustainable, high-quality child care. That’s why we’ve put together resources to help you share your feedback with the government.
How You Can Make Your Voice Heard
The Alberta government welcomes feedback from the public, and there are several ways to ensure your thoughts are considered. While we recognize that you may want to wait until further information is shared from government, we wanted to provide you with some information and tools you can use when you’re ready to share the impact that this new funding model is having on you and your families:
1. Send an Email – A well-written email can be an effective way to share your concerns or support for the funding changes. We’ve created email outlines to make it easy for educators, parents, and agencies to send their feedback. Click the links below to access the templates:

2. Contact Your MLA – Reaching out to your Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) can help ensure that the concerns of child care providers and families are brought forward. We’ve provided information on how to find your MLA and their contact information within the Email Outline.
3. Participate in Public Consultations – The government is holding information sessions for educators. Attending and speaking up can make a difference. You will find a link to register for these sessions in the Letter from Honourable Matt Jones to Family Day Home Educators PDF that should have been sent to you by your agency. If you haven’t received your letter, you can contact your agency.Â
4. Encourage Others to Speak Up – The more voices advocating for quality child care funding, the better. Share these resources with fellow providers, parents, and agencies to help strengthen our collective impact.
Why Your Feedback Matters
Government funding decisions directly affect the quality and accessibility of child care in Alberta. Whether you’re a dayhome educator navigating operational costs, a parent relying on affordable child care, or an agency striving to maintain high-quality programming, your input is invaluable.
By speaking up, you’re helping to shape policies that reflect the real needs of our child care community.
Let’s work together to ensure child care funding in Alberta supports both families and educators.
