Joint partnership of Embolden Private Dayhome Community with Little Lungs First Aid yields new safety training opportunities for child care providers

Edmonton, Alberta, December 6, 2021: A joint partnership was announced today between Embolden Private Dayhome Community and Little Lungs First Aid to help create safer environments for children in Alberta. Private dayhome providers will now have access to free online training in reducing preventable injuries in a dayhome and in a vehicle.

“We welcome Little Lungs First Aid as one of our official training partners,” said Danielle Bourdin, Executive Director of Embolden PDC. “With this partnership, we are thrilled to remove some of the barriers that providers face in accessing important and life-saving information.”

The first initiatives from this partnership are free online training workshops in baby/child CPR and choking, and car seat safety. The workshops are available to providers in all regions of Alberta, will save providers time as compared to taking in-person workshops, and will save on the usual cost of $75.

“We are excited to partner with Embolden PDC to give private dayhome providers some tools to help keep little ones safe,” said Rachel Casswell, Co-Founder of Little Lungs First Aid. “We are honoured to contribute to safety-conscious child caregiving.”

Members of Embolden PDC, including those with a free membership, can now access these one-hour refresher workshops at https://emboldenpdc.com/little-lungs/. They are self-paced and come with a certificate of completion for display in the dayhome. An exclusive group rate is also available for full first aid certification courses and in-person workshops.

Bourdin says, “All working parents worry about the safety of their children in a child care arrangement. Private dayhome providers who demonstrate completion of safety courses such as these from Little Lungs, give parents additional reassurance their children are in safe hands with a provider who goes above and beyond minimum government standards.”
