ABOUT THIS SESSION

Are you interested in supporting future early childhood educators while gaining an extra set of hands in your dayhome? Hosting a Makami College student offers a unique opportunity to share your knowledge and contribute to their hands-on learning experience.

In this virtual session, we’ll walk you through the process of welcoming a student into your dayhome, outlining what to expect, the benefits of participation, and the resources available to support you. You’ll gain insight into how students can assist with daily routines, enhance your program, and develop essential skills under your guidance.

Whether you’re considering hosting for the first time or simply want more information, this session will provide a clear overview of what’s involved and how it can be a rewarding experience for both you and the student.

Join us to explore how you can make a meaningful impact while strengthening your own dayhome community.

YOU MUST BE A LEVEL 2 or 3 ECE WORKING WITH AN AGENCY IN THE EDMONTON OR CALGARY REGION TO BE ELIGIBLE TO MENTOR A STUDENT IN YOUR DAYHOME.

FAQ

Yes. You will need a Level 3 ECE to oversee and check in on you during the practicum. For example, this could be your consultant.

You’ll need to discuss these details with your agency prior to placement, and Makami College will assist you with this process.

You can be a Level 2 or Level 3 ECE to mentor a Makami student.

If you are a Level 2, you will need a Level 3 to oversee the practicum and check in on you (for example,  your consultant).

Unfortunately, the government requirement is that the practicum takes place in a license program.
